Manicure Monday: Mixed Pattern Fall Nails

I meant to have this up Monday, but I was really exasperated with this manicure. And then I ever had time to get around to posting it until now.

The Products

DSC05856

  • L.A. Colors Calcium Nail Treatment- Base/top coat
  • N.Y.C In a New York Color Minute in 248B Manhattan- Base Color
  • N.Y.C French Tip White- Stamping Polish
  • Konad Stamper and Scraper
  • Konad m95 Plate
  • Tools for clean up

The Procedure

Part of the reason I was annoyed with this nail look is that I couldn’t pick up the design at all. No matter how hard I pressed, it didn’t transfer onto the stamper. No matter what polish I used (I tried 3 different ones), I had no results. After realizing that I wasn’t working fast enough, my frustration cleared and I was able to do my nails in minutes.

  1. Paint nails with a base coat
  2. Paint nails two coats of a base color. If you’re using a fast dry polish like me, and it gets thick, try closing the bottle and shaking it after every couple of nails.
  3. Let that dry completely.
  4. Take a white polish and paint it on the design.
  5. Using the scraper, quickly remove the excess polish.
  6. Immediately after that, roll the stamper over the design and pick it up.
  7. Transfer the design onto your nail. Since you already have the design on the stamper, which is the most crucial step, you can take your time in stamping on the design.
  8. Repeat on all nails.
  9. Wait 5-10 minutes and apply a generous amount of top coat.
  10.  Using a polish remover and synthetic brush or q-tip clean up around your nails.

As you can see from the picture above, this isn’t my best work. The design is in no way even, but by this point, I was kind of fed up and just wanted to finish them.

Overall, I thought this design was perfect for fall because I used a dark, wine color. It also, has flowers, lace, and polka dots, which I feel like are always in,

I hope everyone has a great day!

OOTD: Last Day of School and Lunch Date in Chinatown

Today was another hot day, so I wore a dress. I don’t have many summer dresses, and of the ones I do have, they don’t get much use. I’m trying to change that, so I’ll probably be wearing them more frequently.

After my physics final, my friends and I drove to Star Snow Ice and ate lunch there. I got the chicken teriyaki, which has pretty large. I also got a regular milk tea without tapioca. I’ve had better milk tea, at Lollicup, when it was still in business, but it wasn’t too bad. In general, the food wasn’t too bad; it was dirt cheap, like $6.oo!

OOTD: Vintage Florals

Yesterday, my friends and I went to see Iron Man 3. When went to the Palladium, which is theatre that was recently built. It’s not a typical movie theatre- it’s Greek and they sell gyros there. They also have a small bowling alley and multiple gelato machines with a dessert counter thing. It’s huge. Even the bathrooms are nice. They remind me of bathrooms at a nice hotel and they have INDIVIDUAL hand sanitizer dispensers in each stall! They also have something called D-Box. Tbh, I don’t really understand what it is, I just know it’s expensive- $18.50 a ticket! We didn’t go bowling or try any of the food, but the movie itself was surprisingly cheap. It was $7.50 for 3D.

Anyways, even though I didn’t have school, I woke up super early. That meant I had a lot of time on my hands and just decided to dress up. I actually hate wearing pants, so I ended up wearing a dress that day.

OOTN: Graduation Dinner at Ciao Bello

My cousin just finished college and she had a graduation dinner. It was at Ciao Bello, which I had never been to, but I was told that casual attire was allowed. This meant that I could wear jeans. I also wanted to wear one of my new tops, so I asked my mom and she picked the red one.

Polka Dot Peplum

Florals

What I’m Wearing:

  • Blouse- Monteau from Marshalls
  • Jeans- Gap Always Skinny Jeans
  • Shoes- b.o.c flats from Famous Footwear
  • Earrings- Findingbeads on Ebay
  • Watch- Michael Kors from Macy’s

Since dolka dots and florals are really in this season, I decided to combine the two. I also wanted accessories that would be cohesive with my rose gold watch since I don’t own any actual rose gold jewelry. The earrings that I got from Ebay, which are white and gold, were only like $1.99! How crazy is that? I actually my order of jewelry a while ago, and planned on making a post, but never did. If you would like to see a haul of the items I purchased and would like to know about my overal experience with it, please comment below! Also, if you would so check out some cheap, cute jewelry, check out findingbeads on Ebay! *Note: This is not being sponsored. I just think that while there were some mistakes made, they have great customer service and are willing to take care of anything to make sure you’re happy!

That’s it for this quick OOTN! It’s just about 1 A.M. now and I have to a busy day ahead of me tomorrow, so I’m going to call it night! I hope that everyone enjoys their Mother’s Day, and if you guys are interested (and probably even if you’re not) I’ll post an OOTD from my Mother’s Day brunch.

Marshalls and T.J. Maxx Haul

Hey guys! Since we had half days a couple times this week due to standardized testing, I was able to go shopping for the first time in a while. I had been in the mood to go, so I asked my mom to take me to Marshalls. I wasn’t really expecting to get too much, but boy was I wrong. So first we went to Marshalls, and while I found some things, my mom didn’t, so she wanted to check out the newer T.J. Maxx near us.

In total, I got 5 pieces- 4 from Marshalls and 1 from T.J. Maxx.

Marshalls

  • Sheer Navy Polka Dot Top by B-Jewel (12.99)

Dolka dot and floral

The thing I really loved about this top was the floral detailing on the back. I have many shirts that are a similar style, but not one that combines both polka dots and florals.

  • Red and White Polka Dot Peplum Blouse by Monteau (12.99)

DSC05348

When I first saw this top, I snatched it up right away. I thought it was so cute. Upon inspection, it looked like it would be a tighter top so I decided to try on a medium. When I tried it on, it looked a little off. When I asked my mom her opinion, she said it was okay, but I really wanted it, so I asked if she thought a size down would help. She told me to go for it and I was so happy I did. Getting a small really did help.

  • Creme Lace Floral Peplum Blouse by A Diva (19.99)

Floral top

This was actually a last minute purchase. I was heading to the checkout line, when I saw it and picked it up. Since we were getting ready to leave, I didn’t bother trying it on; I assumed it would fit. Unfortunately, it’s a little bigger than I would like, so I’ll most likely return it. Hopefully, I’ll be able to find it in a x-small because this is a very cute top. Since it’s lace (or whatever), it has a built in tank and a full zipper back.If they had it in an x-small, I would probably keep it. *Note: This top is more expensive than the rest because it’s from the missy section not juniors.

  • Black Lace Cutout Dress by  Fire Los Angeles (15.00)

Black Dress

This dress was on sale and I absolutely love it. It was probably one of my favorite purchases. Normally, I try to avoid things that are cinched at the waist, since my waist is so short, but I loved the lace and the pockets so much that I thought I would give it a try. I was so happy I did! I love everything about this dress. The cinching fits fine, it’s the perfect length, and IT HAS POCKETS! It also has a really cute cutout in the back, which is something I wouldn’t normally be in to, but this one wasn’t too bad.

T.J. Maxx

  •  Black Lace Peplum Blouse by One Clothing (12.99)

Black Peplum

Since I already thought so much stuff at Marshalls, I didn’t expect to get anything at T.J. Maxx. I didn’t even plan on looking, but my mom went to look, so I did too. After browsing for a little while, I came across this baby. I was little apprehensive because it was a small, but I tried it on anyways. In the dressing room, I was pretty sad because I couldn’t even get the top all the way over my arms. Luckily, I noticed the side zipper and everything was okay. Unfortunately, this top is a little tight, it kinda rides up a little, but it’s pretty flattering and I couldn’t pass it up. It’s just so freakin cute. Also, the back is all lace, so obviously, you can see my bra. That’s the only true dilema. If anyone has any tips on what I should do, please let me know!

So that’s all for this haul! I figured I would try something a little different from laying all the clothes on the floor! I hope you liked this post and if you’re interested in either dolka dots, florals, peplum, or a combination of the three, I advise you to check out your local Marshalls/T.J. Maxx! I’m sure you’ll be able to find something.

What item did you like the most? Have you found anything cute at either of these stores lately?
